Where to go in Soho, London

It’s one of the most famous corners of the capital for a night cap. Soho sums up the bright lights of the big city. It’s also home to two of Clarendon’s newest developments; Berwick Street and Old Compton Street. If you’re relocating to Soho or you’re staying at one of our serviced apartments for work then why not try one of these bars or restaurants to get a taste of the town.

If you want somewhere to try in Soho you want somewhere cool. Gem is at the heart of Soho and it’s a swanky bar that pulls in the post-work crowd thanks to its 5-7pm happy hour. There are spirits, cocktails and beers on offer but there’s also a great food menu. Try the Dirty Burger, a pulled pork sandwich or grilled rib eye steak if you just can’t face cooking after work. There’s even a dance floor so if you don’t have to be up in the morning you can dance the night away.

Wahaca launched a pop-up restaurant on the Southbank in 2013 but if you want the full experience head to their restaurant in Soho. Specialising in Mexican street food there are plenty of imitators but none get it quite as good as the original. Tacos, Quesadillas, Tostadas and a guacamole dip you’ll be begging them for the recipe of this is the perfect place for a post-work snack. There are bigger dishes offering grilled platters for those who want a more substantial meal and there is also a special gluten free menu. 20p from each order goes to charity. You can even buy one of their sauces and get recipe tips from their website.

With its bright neon lights at night, Soho does have a Tokyo feel. Heighten the experience at Chotto Matte which aims to bring Tokyo’s underground vibe to the streets of London. No matter what mood you’re in you’ll find a corner of this bar to suit you. It’s spread over two floors and has six distinct areas including a cocktail lounge with a bar cut from lava stone or an upper level leading to a 100-seater dining room. Nikkei inspired cocktails include Pisco, Sochu and Sake with expert mixologists delivering authentic drinks. For the peckish try the Japanese BBQ with grilled octopus, spicy lamb chops and seasonal grilled vegetables on offer.

For those looking for more traditional British fare look no further than the Argyll Arms. Named after the Duke or Argyll who had a mansion on Argyll Street the pub offers a wide selection of good grub and ales. It’s also a chance to see like in the nineteenth century. The bar is portioned with etched glass dividing it into three distinct areas. 100 years ago social class defined where you could sit in the pub and while you can sit anywhere in the Argyll Arms this little bit of history adds to the experience.

At Barrafina you’ll be able to try some of the finest Spanish tapas on offer in the capital. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing the finest raw ingredients and then puts them together as simply with as little fuss as possible. The result is that you get great authentic Spanish food with cold meats, tortilla, vegetables as well as meat and desserts designed to be shared.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in the heart of London’s West End then look no further than Clarendon’s newest developments offering both one and two bedroom serviced apartments. Both Berwick Street and Old Compton Street are ideal for those looking for a medium let or extended stay.
