Yes, we know it’s commercial but still fun to be involved in. OK, you shouldn’t spend just one day showing your loved one how important you are to them but come on, it’s quite nice to spend the day together just the two of you and have a lovely day out.
Here are Clarendon’s suggestions for different things to do this Valentine’s Day in the capital.
Give the traditional movie a miss and head to Hyde Park for their pop-up cinema. The Nomad has sixties classic The Graduate and The Notebook among others this weekend. With your ticket entry you get a glass of fizz, food and some wonderful memories with your loved one. So why not try an alternative to the traditional cinema and venture out! On a cold Valentine’s night!
Sleeping with Sherlock doesn’t involve Benedict Cumberbatch, sadly, but it is a good way of finding out more about the eponymous detective and then enjoying dinner and drinks at the Museum of London. Spend your time wondering the museum before being told ghost stories, playing detective and then enjoying a lovely dinner. The event runs all night from 7.30pm until 9.30am in the morning when you can have a romantic breakfast with your loved one.
Have a different dining experience with the people who brought you Nordic Yulefest at Bloomsbury House. Kissing booths designed by Lulu Guinness, a special menu including boozy slushies and cheese and jalapeno toasties and a chance to see Tarantino’s True Romance, definitely worth a try.
If you’re looking for something sweet to do in the afternoon rather than the evening, head to Belgravia and Knightsbridge where the Macaroons & Mews tour takes you on an historic and sugary stroll. It lasts two and a half hours, costs £20 and takes in five tastings.
If you’re single and can’t bear anything about Valentine’s Day then look no further. Bounce, the ping pong venue is hosting and anti-Valentine’s party for all those who would like a bit of alternative fun. Singles only, strictly no canoodling, no couple games and no couples allowed on the dancefloor. Strut your stuff and book yourself in!
