Clarendon serviced apartments’ Cleveland Residences is off Goodge Street. One of the most striking areas of the capital it is famous for its eye-catching architecture. In Part 1 of our location review find out what there is to see and do.

There have been many famous residents of Cleveland Street. Charles Dickens was one and a plaque commemorates his address on 22 Cleveland Street, his childhood home. Along into Goodge Street some of the more famous residents were actually underground. The nearest tube station is Goodge Street and General Eisenhower’s headquarters were located there during the Second World War.

Many of those who pay the neighbourhood a visit now are celebrities. The popular A-lister hangout is China White, just one of the bars and restaurants in the area. For those who prefer their eateries a little low key there is a diverse range of cuisines to try; Cleveland residences is only a short walk from Charlotte Street which is well known for its restaurants. The Gaucho provides Italian cuisine, Terra is Mediterranean, and the Scandinavian kitchen offers truly unique cuisine. For those who like it a bit simpler Bubble Dogs specialises in hot dogs. Real and craft ale drinkers are in for a treat with the Carpenter’s Arms and the Draft House. The London Cocktail Club caters for those who want their drink to be more exotic.

Cleveland Residences is close to many of London’s central attractions. Oxford Street is nearby and ideal for visitors who want to indulge in some retail therapy. There’s something to meet all tastes as every high street, designer and department store has a flagship address in the same postcode.

Goodge Street is in the middle of London’s entertainment hubs, one more mainstream and family friendly, the other cool and hip. Keep strolling down Oxford Street and you’ll reach Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. Cinemas, pubs, bars, restaurants; you name it each are the ideal location to watch the world go by. Turn the other way and head towards Fitzrovia and Soho. Here’s another great venue to go celeb-spotting, The Social. Alternatively Artesian is the epitome of luxury with an opulent lounge and full to bursting cocktail list. Another popular cocktail bar is the Shochu Lounge which is Japanese themed.

The area is home to plenty of family friendly attractions. Pollock’s Toy Museum charts toys throughout history, from a 4,000 year old Egyptian mouse to a Victorian nursery. Nostalgic for adults and entertaining for children. If you haven’t had your fill of celeb-spotting than visit Madame Tussaud’s, one of London’s most popular tourist attractions.

Clarendon’s Serviced Apartments offers one bedroom apartments in Cleveland Residences, restored throughout to highlight the building’s Victorian heritage. Each apartment comes with a fully fitted modern kitchen and bathroom. It’s the ideal spot to create a home away from home.
