Visit Richmond & Kew

In the first of Clarendon’s location reviews we look at Richmond, one of our top west London locations. Along with Kew it boasts serviced apartments close to the city but also the leafy village, making it ideal for families, for relocation as well as business travellers who are working in the area. So what is there to offer?

Richmond has long been seen as a retreat, both for royalty as well as the rich and famous. It is its location that makes it so attractive. Around 15 miles from the centre of London it has great transport connections meaning you’re at London Waterloo in a quarter of an hour.

What a difference the journey makes, though. Gone are the skyscrapers, the traffic and the noise. Instead the River Thames runs through the centre of the borough offering picturesque riverside settings. There is plenty for visitors to do with Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens, Royal parks as well as theatres, museums and galleries to keep you occupied.

Combining just the right mix of heritage, beauty and activities to keep you busy, Kew is the ideal location if you want to be based slightly out of the centre of the city. Home to the Royal Botanic Gardens, which are now a World Heritage Site, as well as Kew Palace, the village is well known for its independent shops and businesses. It has a community market each month and it’s an attractive and picture-postcard place to stay.

For a family wanting to stay somewhere close to central attractions but out of central London, Richmond and Kew are ideal. Similarly, for business relocation or travel not everyone wants to be based in the heart of the city. Sometimes, a serviced apartment in a commuter belt or in a leafy village might mean you have added commuter time but it can make you feel a little more at home, especially if this is the place you’re planning on setting up home with your family. A strong community might make you feel more welcome.

Clarendon has serviced apartments at Manning Place in Richmond, just a short walk away from Richmond Park. One and two bedroom apartments are available with prices starting at £145 a night. At Kew, accommodation is based at Kew Bridge in a new development featuring chic two bedroom apartments. Close to the river it’s an easy journey into Central London. At Kew Gardens Road there is Clarendon House & Gardens, a short walk from Kew Village. It has one, two and three bedroom apartments. Prices start at £198 and £135 respectively.
