Tower of London – 2 mins walk from Pepys Street apartments
The most historical castle in London is “Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress”, better known as “Tower of London”. The castle is almost 1000 years old and it shows all its history in its architecture. The castle contains the White Tower, which was often the strongest structure in a medieval castle, and contained lodgings suitable for the lord, in this case the King. The castle is mainly visited for the Crown Jewels. The Jewel House was built specifically to house the royal regalia, including jewels, plate, and symbols of royalty such as the crown, sceptre, and sword. The Tower of London is also the house of some famous ghost, such as Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII and Margaret Pole.
St. Paul’s Cathedral – 3 min walk from Sir John Lyon House apartments
One of the most important cathedrals of the Church of England is St. Paul Cathedral. The original church has been built on the north bank of the River Thames in AD 604. The Cathedral that can be visit nowadays is the one reconstructed after the Great Fire of London in the 17th century. This Baroque church has been an important venue for many events like the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher and the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II.
Westminster – 1 min walk from Chandos Place apartments
Another important church of London is the Collegiate Church of St. Peter at Westminster, commonly known as Westminster Abbey. It is located next to the House of Parliament, with its famous Big Ben. The Church during its 1000 years of existence, has been restored several times and it is now an architectural masterpiece. Westminster Abbey has been the venue of only two reigning monarchs’ weddings, Henry I and Richard II. However, fourteen royal weddings have been celebrated in this famous church, including the last Royal wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton.
Little Venice – 5 min walk from Marylebone Apartments
Little Venice is one of the most chic areas in London and also one of its prime residential areas. Located between Paddington and Maidstone, Little Venice offers great views and is a perfect place to take a walk. You can watch the hundreds of Canal boats that ply the area. A regular waterbus service consisting of traditional canal narrow boats operates from Little Venice towards Camden Town along the historic Regents Canal. It is also possible to wait for the next waterbus drinking a nice cup of coffee at the Canal boat cafe nearby.
Primrose Hill – 8 min walk from Euston King’s Cross apartments
Located on the northern side of Regent’s Park, this hill has one of the most incredible and breathtaking views of London. You might even spot a famous celebrity or two as the houses in the near village called with the same name, have been favoured locations of celebrities.
