Visiting a museum is always a pleasure. However, exploring a museum at night is a unique experience.
Some of London’s galleries and museums will offer this unique opportunity from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22th of July.
Previous participants included the London Transport Museum, the National Maritime Museum, National Portrait Gallery and the Horniman Museum.
The Museum at Night event will not only have longer opening hours — memorable events have also been confirmed for each venue. In fact, sleepovers at Victoria and Belgravia and a conference with important contemporary artists will be hosted in most of the galleries.
One of the most prominent activities for this year’s event will be the National Portrait Gallery hosting conceptual artist Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds as he talks about Native American Art. There will also be scenic tours of the Government Art Collection.
Other activities lined up for the event include shows at The Horniman Museum in south London where the gardens will buzz to the sound of music and storytelling with live art from rAndom International. At the Tate Modern’s Live Performance Room an edgy performance by Liu Dung examines the dynamic between Chinese avant-garde and western modernism.
However, if you are not in London during the Museum at Night event, you can still enjoy some late-night culture. Every Friday, many London museums and galleries have late openings (usually until 8.30 pm) and they also have free admission.
Many of Clarendon’s serviced apartments in London are located near these museums. You can rent one of our London serviced apartments and be strategically placed to take full advantage of the history and culture this historical and vibrant city has to offer.
