The evenings are certainly getting chillier. But that doesn’t mean you’re confined to the indoors until spring. London has plenty of heated terraces ensuring you can enjoy a night out in the deep midwinter. Here are Clarendon’s top five;
1. The Parlour, Canary Wharf, close to Clarendon’s Canary Wharf apartments
In the centre of the Park Pavilion at Canada Square, the Parlour offers food and drink all day long with live music long into the night. The al fresco terrace is sheltered from the seasonal chill by huge umbrellas with fire pits, heaters and woolen blankets. The outdoor bar serves winter cocktails like hot butter and lavender rum punch, winter cobblers, ginger mulled wine and hot ciders.
2. Clos Maggiore, Covent Garden close to Clarendon’s Covent Garden Apartments
It’s hard to argue with the title of “London’s Most Romantic Restaurant” which the Harden’s Restaurant Guide awarded to Clos Maggiore. The conservatory is definitely seasonal with a floral display in spring and summer. By winter however it turns into a warming cabin with candles and a roaring log fire. Alongside the contemporary French menu there is a range of warming brandies and cognacs.
3. Golden Bee, Shoreditch
What more could you ask for; a rooftop terrace with a glittering view of the London skyline. This Christmas the Golden Bee transforms its terrace into a winter wonderland. The fire pits will make this the most atmospheric place to have a winter’s drink this season.
4. Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch
The Queen of Hoxton Christmas wigwam has fast become a tradition. Erected on its roof for the winter months this year it has a Nordic theme and a special display. Candle lanterns will light the way creating a cosy space with an open flame grill. Drinks will include hot gin punch and a hot pumpkin spiced cider.
5. Kensington Roof Gardens, Kensington
There’s nothing like the iconic view of London to keep you warm on wintry nights. At the roof garden wrap yourself in a blanket, sip a hot cocktail and enjoy the food on offer. Club nights will keep us entertained through the winter and the Spanish Garden remains open during the day.
