A little closer to royalty – Staines and Wraysbury Hall

Having the Queen as a neighbour is just par for the course at Wraysbury Hall. A beautiful estate this is a location which has a mark of luxury. For those looking for somewhere to live away from the hustle and bustle of the country an apartment here is ideal. Clarendon Serviced Apartments explores why in Part 1 of our location review of Staines and Wraysbury Hall.

A royal location

Living in the same neighbourhood as the royal family might not ensure you get invited to any christenings or first birthday parties, but it still adds a touch of allure to a postcode.

Wraysbury Hall is steeped in history. Built in 1892 it was part of an extensive family estate, gently rolling down to the River Thames. It lies between Staines and Egham which is also home to another famous address; Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed in 1215. As well as its historical significance, Runnymede is known as one of the prettiest corners of the capital with riverside meadows, grasslands and woodland ideal; for walks, runs and any other outdoor pursuit. A little more formally designed is Virginia Water, an affluent village with a stunning lake, formal gardens and woodland gardens – some of the most attractive found in England.

Where to go to school

If relocating with your family then schools are an important consideration. Private schools close to Wraysbury Hall include ACS Egham and TASIS in Thorpe. Both run summer schools. For a family relocating temporarily and who want their children to stay focused then this programme of academia and sports is an ideal solution. For those moving permanently to the UK, who are making Wraysbury their temporary home then a summer school offers the possibility for a taster and a chance to get up to speed on the UK curriculum, vital for a pupil moving from abroad.

For those looking for higher education, Wraysbury Hall is close to the prestigious Royal Holloway University.

Wraysbury Walks

For days when you’re not in the office it’s good to make the most of the outdoors. Wraysbury Hall is set in over 3.5 acres of private landscaped gardens ideal for those who like long walks. The River Thames runs alongside the estate meaning a riverside walk can be a daily occurrence.

There are other routes, ideal for cycling, taking in Wraysbury, Windsor, Egham and Staines. Covering over 23 km this circular route is ideal for those who like a longer challenge. Shorter cycle routes are ideal for the whole family and are a perfect way to explore your new home.

For those a little braver there is the Windsor Ghost Walk which is a journey through the town’s often gruesome history. Tales of hauntings, the infamous Four Witches as well as haunted houses along the way add another layer to the picturesque neighbourhood.

Where to stay

Inside Wraysbury Hall itself there is a choice of one, two and three bedroom apartments. Each is comfortably furnished offering bright and spacious accommodation. The one bedrooms apartments have en-suite or separate bathrooms with spacious open plan lounge, dining room and fully fitted kitchens. The two bedrooms and three bedrooms have master en-suites and a family bathroom. The larger apartments also benefit from a private terrace or balcony so there is plenty of space for relocating families.
